Project#13 Prework

Utopia- utopia is a perfect world. In utopias, there are not problems like war, disease, poverty, oppression, discrimination, inequality, and so forth.

Dystopia-dystopia, on the other hand, is a world in which nothing is perfect. The problems that plague our world are often even more extreme in dystopias

My definitions- Utopia is a perfect world. dystopia is the exact opposite.

Love is not allowed between anyone. In the movie it shows between two of the main characters

Project #11 - Magazine Mockup

For the Project#11 Magazine Mockup, I chose to use automobiles. In this 4 page magazine, it includes the Porsche 911 and the Boeing 747 airplane. I included a location in Portland talking about the Porsche. My cover is the car, my spread is about Washington Park, and my last page is about the Boeing 747.

Project #10 - Portrait Photography

Commercial Portraits

I took this photo of my dog, advertising for Penn tennis balls. I thought it fit with my dog and I enhanced the green, and the white on my dog. I also increased clarity and lightened the picture up a bit.

For this photo of "Lipton" tea, the lightened was difficult when taking the picture, so I did quite a bit of editing on this photo. I increased the clarity and lightened this picture as well. The green on the leaves, and the green of the packaging I increased as much as I could without making it look neon.

Fine Art Portraits

This find this photo of Kai looking away, thinking of something. I decreased the clarity for his deep thinking, and that he's not fully in reality in his mind. I also decreased the lighting.

This photo I almost did the opposite of what I did to the one above. I increased clarity, lightened the picture, and increased saturation to give this photo a more happy and cheerful mood to display Kai's happy smile.

Inspiring Stop Animation

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJsw31WvtAA

I like this stop animation because of the intense dramatic aspect they included, and the story line. I also was thinking of using a wooden figure as well, and it's good for me to get an idea of what it'll look like in the end.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yG_k2Zlw7Y

This one is very interesting because it has some special effects mix into the stop motion. I also really liked how they shook the screen when the need to. I won't be doing special effects but it was very cool to see.

This "Lego Shark Attack" animation in a comedy skit does with Legos that I think would be really easy props to use because they look robotic and using stop animation is going to have skips and more robotic looking movement.

Inspiring Magazine Designs

Covers

1962 issue of Corvette News (Vol .5, No. 1)
featured Alan B. Shepard with a white, 1962
Corvette coupe featuring a customized, “space-age” interior.

Keith Richards, Rolling Stone, October,2015. I love the Rolling Stones and I think this picture is really mysterious and cool of Keith Richards.

Spreads

2005 Claire Valley Winery. I like this spread because of the way they displayed the text surrounding a non-existent wine bottle as it's getting filled up.

JJK magazine of Australia. I like how disoriented the text is on the right page, and the majority being a birds eye view of Australia.

Advertisements

Cigarette Chesterfield Advertisement. I found this advertisement interesting because the face of this ad are cops smoking cigarettes, with one of the cops saying "my complements on your very good taste, sir".

Project#10- Fine Art vs Commercial Portraits

Commercial Portrait

vs

Fine Art (Christian Petersen)

I noticed between these two images that in the commercial portrait Marshawn is posing is a silly and fun way to show off the Skittles vending machines. Like Skittles he is wearing bright colors. In the Art Portrait, he is very serious looking, seeming to be looking directly into the camera I assume. Super 49 wallpaper is behind him. His serious/intimidating look is to show his readiness for the game. (didn't result very well for the Seahawks).

Commercial Portraits

I think that commercial Portraits is a photo that makes the viewer get drawn in, and think about the image. They want the viewer to relate to it just like most advertisements. That was i think commercial portraits are. Advertisements.

This is an ad for Damian Lillard's basketball camp that he does in Portland. It also shows the sponsors of the camp along the top right corner. I think the two pictures of him on the poster is meant to show the hustle and hard work that the camp is going to need the kids to do.

This is Serena Williams, pro women's tennis player, in an ad for Nike. The clarity, shadows, and her facial expression show the seriousness of the ad. This shows the intense competitiveness that Serena feels for the sport.
